Adding IMEI and serial numbers to items helps businesses manage serialised inventory more efficiently. Serialisation enables tracking specific items crucial for industries like electronics, appliances, and medical equipment. With myBillBook, users can manually or automatically (via barcode scanning) associate IMEI or serial numbers with individual products, ensuring accurate stock tracking and smoother sales/purchase operations.

Step-by-Step Guide to Add IMEI and Serial Number

Step 1 : Enable Serialization in Item Settings

  • Navigate to the Items section on the dashboard.

  • Click on Item Settings.

  • Toggle the Enable Serial Number/IMEI option. Optionally, you can rename the field for better customization (e.g., "Serial No." or "IMEI").

Step 2 : Create an Item with Serialization Enabled

  • Go to Create New Item.

  • Enable the Serialization toggle button.

  • Fill in the other necessary details about the item.

Step 3 : Add IMEI/Serial Numbers

  • After enabling serialization, a new section appears for entering serial/IMEI numbers.

  • Click Add New Serial Number to manually input serial/IMEI numbers.

  • Alternatively, use a barcode scanner:

    • Select Scan Serial Number.

    • Scan the barcode, and the number will auto-populate in the field.

Step 4 : Save the Details

  • After entering all serial/IMEI numbers, click Save. The system will update the stock count based on the number of serial/IMEI entries.

Step 5 : Track Serialized Items During Transactions

  • Sales Invoice: While creating a sales invoice, select the item. A prompt will allow you to choose from the available serial/IMEI numbers.

  • Purchase Invoice: Similarly, add serialized items by scanning or entering numbers during purchase invoice creation
